When asked “What is jazz?” Louis Armstrong replied, “Man, if you got to ask, you’ll never know.”
Those who know jazz and those who want to know should check out the Judith Ellis Jazz Series, Thursday evenings in the Cadillac Cafe at the Detroit Opera House.
The music is by Judith Ellis & The Third Beginning, featuring the legendary Wendell Harrison. Ms. Ellis is known for her knock-out vocals. Mr. Harrison is known for his reed play, especially clarinet and tenor saxophone. Depending on the evening, the ensemble also features top talents on guitar, keyboard, bass and drums.
