The audience and cast give Dr. David DiChiera a rousing ovation after the final curtain of the outstanding Michigan Opera Theatre production, Cyrano. Composed by the founder of MOT, the three-act masterpiece was sensational from beginning to end, with superlative performances by the leads, supporting roles and the Michigan Opera Theatre chorus and orchestra.
Before the performance, the audience learned the Detroit Opera House would be named the David DiChiera Center for the Performing Arts. Referring to the far future, Dr. DiChiera promised he would “haunt the place.” The audience gave him a standing ovation, then, too.
