For their 60th season, the Detroit Repertory Theatre presents a family affair — those by blood and those we choose — and its repercussions throughout the community and the entire nation. Countdown to the Happy Day opens May 25 and runs through June 25 at the Rep.
Written by Thomas W. Stephens, the drama tells an intensely powerful story about two people, despite abuse and neglect, hanging on to their lives and to each other. Their emotionally combustible relationship proves to them, and to all, that black lives matter.
