The Wayne State University Planetarium is an astronomical education resource for Wayne State University students and the larger Detroit community. In addition to hosting shows for WSU Astronomy and Physics courses, the WSU Planetarium offers:

  • Free public planetarium shows nearly every Friday night at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
  • Free young astronomers planetarium shows one Saturday morning per month.

Admission is by ticket for these and other public events, including the monthly lecture series, “Science Under the Dome.”

The image above is among the last photographs returned to earth by the Cassini-Huygens spacecraft in 2017. Launched to explore the Saturnian system in 1997, the spacecraft was a joint mission of NASA, ESA (European Space Agency), and ASI (Italian Space Agency).
