New Generation Fine Arts Foundation presents “Art History: Works by Kenneth Gatewood” with works by L.A native and internationally renowned artist Kenneth Gatewood. The exhibition runs through June 4 at The Carr Center Gallery in Detroit.
Kenneth Gatewood is a Los Angeles-based watercolor and collage artist who is inspired by African American historical icons, music, nature and children. He is most notably recognized for his world-renowned “baby sports images.”
In 1995, Mr. Gatewood was the first African American artist to hold licenses from the NFL, NBA, MLB, MSL and NHL at the same time to create artwork. His pieces are in the collections of the late Michael Jackson, Charles Barkley, Quincy Jones, Denzel Washington, the late Teena Marie, Queen Latifah, Tyler Perry and more.
The Carr Center Gallery is located at 1505 Woodward Avenue, Detroit.
