In partnership with MOCAD and 826Mich, celebrated author ZZ Claybourn invites young writers and artists with an interest in science fiction to a special short story writing workshop. The “Detroit Is Science Fiction” program is Saturday, June 30 at MOCAD — the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit from noon to 4 p.m.
All Teen Art Workshops are free with registration. All supplies and snacks provided by MOCAD. Spaces may fill quickly. To register, click here.
From the organizers: Join ZZ Claybourne and his troupe of local sci-fi enthusiasts for a day of exploring the electric resources of The Young Creative Mind. This far out short story writing workshop for kids and teens uses technology and sound as narrative tools and includes the creation of cosmic comic art based on THEIR ideas. This program is presented in partnership with 826Michigan.

While not directly affiliated with the writing workshop program at MOCAD, the work serves to remind us of the real-life role science fiction can play in shaping (and/or preventing) the world and our future.
