Discover how the news media covered — and missed — the rise and fall of Nazism in “The Holocaust Unfolds,” a special exhibit at the Holocaust Memorial Center in West Bloomfield.
Examining the actual journalism of the 1930s and 1940s– local and national newspaper articles and radio reports — The Holocaust Unfolds is open Sunday to Friday through Dec. 28.
The exhibit is free with Holocaust Memorial Center admission or membership. For more information about the exhibit, please call 248-553-2400 or click here.
Details from the Holocaust Memorial Center:
Unlike mainstream media – including the Detroit Free Press and the New York Times – the Detroit Jewish News and its predecessor publication, the Detroit Jewish Chronicle, continuously reported on the rise and fall of Nazism. View reports from Hitler’s ascension to power through the destruction of European Jewry to the trial of Adolph Eichmann.
The Holocaust Unfolds debunks the myths about what was known and when. The exhibit is made possible by the Detroit Jewish News Foundation.
