Details from DCAC:

The Dearborn Community Arts Council, founded in 1969, is celebrating 50 years of service to the arts and cultural community of Dearborn and surrounding area.  The DCAC is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) umbrella organization that is dedicated in its mission statement to facilitate, encourage and support the arts in our diverse community.

The DCAC provides service and support for the growth and development of 40 arts and cultural organizations in Dearborn and the greater Dearborn community. The DCAC collaborates with the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Dearborn Department of Recreation and Parks, the Dearborn Community Fund and other cultural organizations to provide resources and information on artistic, cultural, theatrical and special events across our region.

The DCAC and the ASD (Artists’ Society of Dearborn) have enjoyed collaborating for many years, and each summer these area artists produce their Summer Showcase. It is a curated selection of works based on one of four medium categories. These four categories are photography & digital art, oil & acrylic, works on paper, and watercolor painting. On a rotating basis, one category is selected and this year the spotlight is on photography & digital art. Due to the limited number of ASD artists currently working in 3-D mediums, 3-D pieces are also always included in the Summer Showcase.

The Opening Party for this exhibit and the DCAC’s celebration of their 50th Anniversary take place TONIGHT — Thursday, July 11 from 6pm to 8pm — FREE and open to all – light refreshments will be served.
