Look up in the sky and see history fly when the Yankee Air Museum presents Thunder Over Michigan this weekend at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti. The air show and exhibition tells the story of aviation with historic aircraft and demonstrations on the ground and in the air.
Among the stars are the Yankee Air Museum’s B-17G Flying Fortress (photo), B-25D Mitchell medium bomber, and C-47D Skytrain cargo plane from the World War II era — all meticulously maintained and airworthy. Performances include the US Air Force F-16 demonstrators, stunt pilot Michael Goulian, and Corsair Crazy, featuring an amazing collection of the US Navy gull-winged fighter planes — plus a group of P-51 Mustangs.
