Get an eyeful of what is on the minds of people in our democracy when Holding House presents “Declared Dissent: A Political Billboard Show,” a solo exhibition of works by Detroit artist Nicole MacDonald. The new exhibit opens Saturday, Sept. 7 with a public reception that begins at 6 p.m.

Ms. MacDonald’s hand-paintined billboards range in size from 11-feet long to 15-feet in length and examine a variety of social and political concerns. The artist has been working on the project for much of the past year.

  • Opening Reception: Saturday, Sept. 7 from 6-9 p.m.
  • Artist Talk: Saturday, Sept. 28 1-3 p.m.

The exhibition was paired with an organization that houses homeless youth, to engage in workshops culminating in two billboards created by the residents and Macdonald that will be part of the exhibition. These workshops were made possible with support from the Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency.

Holding House Art Gallery and Project Space is located at 3546 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, Michigan.
