Join the Indigenous storytelling project MAWADISIDIWIG and the Detroit Historical Society for a special workshop led by Aadizookaan founder Sacramento Knoxx & Team where participants will explore the question: What does an equitable, community-driven future in Detroit look like?

The one day “Time Travel Storytelling Workshop” is Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle, beginning at 10 a.m.

This program will explore “Indigenous Futurism” with a small group of community members to produce an alternative narrative which will imagine how Detroit would be shaped differently through this framework.

Participants will:

  • learn and explore the tales and history of Waawiiyatanong (also known as Detroit)
  • have the unique opportunity to co-create digital art and audio recordings for creative storytelling
  • collaborate in developing a revised history of the region and envision a more just and equitable future through narrative

This is a FREE event, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE. Space is limited. Lunch provided. Click here to register.
