Also sprinkled throughout the program is an array of captivating settings of “in terra pax” including the masterful setting from Vivaldi’s Gloria, one by the early Renaissance master Costanzo Festa and a selection from the Mass for 16 voices by Johann Friedrich Fasch.

With guest soloist, baritone Robert Peavler, as well as a string ensemble joining the wonderful choir, In Terra Pax will be sure to capture the hope, grandeur, intimacy and elegance of the season.

In Terra Pax is both the title of Gerald Finzi‘s beautiful Christmas scene for baritone, choir and strings, and the general theme of VAE’s Christmas concert 2019. Finzi wrote In Terra Pax in 1954, close to the end of his relatively short life. The sights, smells and sounds of the English countryside are redolent throughout this intimately passionate setting of Robert Bridges‘ poem, “Noel: Christmas Eve, 1913”.

Genesis of Ann Arbor is located at 2309 Packard Street, Ann Arbor, MI.
