Get in the holiday spirit Sunday at the Detroit Institute of Arts with Opera MODO. Detroit’s resident renegade opera company will present the sounds and stories of the holidays — some classic, others contemporary and all of outstanding quality — to help all get their holidays off to a rousing start.
Sponsored by Pro Musica of Detroit, the Opera MODO concert program is free and open to the public of all communities with museum admission. The Dec. 8 program begins at 2 p.m. in the DIA’s Rivera Court.
The performance includes works from beloved operas — including Pagliacci, La Boheme, La Gioconda, Porgy and Bess and Candide. The concert also includes holiday favorites from The Messiah and Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.
