  • GREAT PERFORMANCES: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR – Sunday, 12/8 at 8:00pm
    Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera that recounts the last week of Jesus’ life features John Legend, Sara Bareilles and Alice Cooper.

 

  • RICK STEVES SPECIAL: EUROPEAN CHRISTMAS – Sunday, 12/8 at 11:00pm
    Rick Steves celebrates the Christmas season throughout the European continent, exploring holiday customs and practices in England, France, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

 

  • DETROIT PERFORMS: ALL OF THE TREE– Tuesday, 12/10 at 7:30pm
    Woodturner Steve Kolpacke, leaf painter Jennifer Lanzilotti; and painter Tania Dibbs. Plus, DJ Oliver checks out the the Janice Charach Gallery in the Jewish Community Center of Metro Detroit.

    The making of the documentary series “Country Music” by Ken Burns, which details the history of country music in America; host Kathy Mattea.

 

  • LEONARD COHEN: TOWER OF SONG– Friday, 12/13 at 10:00pm
    A celebration of songwriter Leonard Cohen’s work features a 24-piece orchestra with special guests k.d. lang, Sting, Elvis Costello, Damien Rice and more; from the Bell Center in Montreal.

 

  • AMERICA LIVE AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM– Friday, 12/13 at 10pm
    The ’70s rock band America celebrates 50 years with a concert at the London Palladium; songs include “A Horse With No Name” and “Tin Man.”

 

 

  • JOHN SEBATIAN FOLK REWIND (MY MUSIC) – Saturday, 12/14 at 10pm
    Performances by artists of the 1950s and ’60s include those of Pete Seeger, Judy Collins, the Kingston Trio, and the Chad Mitchell Trio.
