The Dearborn Community Arts Council opens its 25th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition Thursday at Padzieski Art Gallery. The opening reception begins at 6 p.m. The exhibition runs through March 11 at the Padzieski Gallery, located in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.

The exhibition, curated by Nik Haskin, includes photographic works produced in color, black & white and digitally. Many of the images in the exhibit are one-of-a-kind works and available for purchase. Running through March 11, the exhibition honors the late Dearborn photographer and educator Teresa Lousias.

The Dearborn Community Arts Council (DCAC) kicks off the New Year Thursday, February 6 as photographers from hobbyists and beginners, to intermediates and professionals participate in the Padzieski Art Gallery’s Annual Juried Photography Exhibition. Art enthusiasts come from all over to experience the show and to be presented with an opportunity to purchase limited, one-of-a-kind art photography. The Teresa Lousias Memorial Award in its 2nd year, offers a $100 cash prize plus ProCam gift card for the “Best of Show” winner, with additional $50 cash prizes and ProCam gift cards for the “Color”, “Black & White” and “Digitally Altered” categories.

This highly anticipated exhibition represents all ages, all interests, and all walks of life expressed through the three competition categories. The remarkable artistic range on display presents a chance to experience the world of photography elevated from simple “picture taking” to a higher level of expression and creativity. While current technology benefits both casual and serious photographers, this exhibition serves as a reminder of the. Helping to define the elusive line between fine art and simple observation is this year’s judge, Nik Haskin. Haskin is a Dearborn based photographer, graphic designer and independent filmmaker. His other creative work consists of mixed media experimental art as well as science fiction influenced props & set construction. Haskin’s work has been showcased regionally and internationally.
