Hear staged readings of four new dramatic works when Jewish Ensemble Theatre presents JETFest 2020 – Seymour J. and Ethel S. Frank Festival of New Plays. Held on four consecutive Sundays in March, the works were selected from 200 new scripts submitted to JETFest 2020 from playwrights from all over the United States.

Each playwright receives a professional reading on our stage and a cash award. This year’s festival is underwritten by Mary Lou Zieve and Steven A. Showfer.

Admission to JETFest is $10 per reading. Tickets can be purchased by calling (248) 788-2900 or by clicking here.

The line-up:

  • March 8, 2020 @ 2 p.m. – The Kistiakowsky Affair by Alan Brody
Based on a true story of the Harvard University exclusionary quota system of the 1950s and one man’s campaign to end it.
  • March 15, 2020 @ 2 p.m. – The Hairy Man by Bryan Halperin

  • March 22, 2020 @ 2 p.m. – The Goodbye Levee by Mike Solomonson

Each reading is followed by an audience discussion. Playwrights are invited to attend. Members of the audience can be part of the process of professional play development. This feedback is encouraged and essential to the playwrights as they continue to refine their work for full productions on the professional stage.
