John Pablo Rojas is a cellist and composer currently studying at Wayne State University.

Born 2003 in Chicago, he was surrounded by artists, poets, and all sorts of creative minds from day one that have shaped his love for art and music. He began playing cello at the age of 8, has studied with former Detroit Symphony Orchestra cellist Paul Wingert, and is now studying with current DSO cellist and Wayne State Faculty Úna O’Riordan. He is the current Principal Cellist in the Wayne State University Symphony Orchestra, and has also appeared with the University’s Big Band and Wind Symphony. In high school he was a member of both the UofM Youth Symphony and Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony, as well as the percussion captain for Ferndale High School’s state championship winning marching band. 2022 has been a largely successful year for John Pablo, as he has secured shows with both De’sean Jones and the legendary jessica Care moore, most notably making the Detroit Symphony premiere of Care moore’s opera, Wild Beauty. In the future, John Pablo hopes to attend summer orchestral programs during his time in undergrad, and then masters programs once his bachelors degree is complete.
